The city of Natchez located on the Mississippi river has a very rich history in the development of America in the early 1800's. Fortunately the town was spared devastation from the civil war. Many of the homes are still beautiful. The town is a nice stop along the way. A must see is the photo gallery of Natchez with the people from the early days. Best photos I have ever seen. The photographer preserved the photos of the people beautifully dressed. 4-5 decades of photos with detailed description of who they were and what did. The homes, families and the river boats / steamboats and the town itself are all covered. We camped in the local state park . Another beautiful forest with a mountain type lake. This area is also very much linked to the home of the blues and and jazz music.
Natchez is the beginning of the best road and most beautiful in America. If your ever in Miss, Alabama or Kentucky go for a ride. Is is 441 miles long through a forest...amazing. Check out on interent.
